Counterpoint Concert for St. Mary's Anglican Church Maitland
Sun, 1 Dec 2024
Counterpoint Chamber Choir returned to St Mary's Anglican Church Maitland on Sunday 1 December 2024 to perform a Christmas themed concert to an appreciative audience in excess of 100 people. Since 2007, Counterpoint has been regularly presenting a Christmas Concert at St. Paul's West Maitland and St Mary's Maitland, following St. Paul's closure, promoted and organised by local parishioner, Irene Hemsworth. It was Counterpoint's pleasure to remember Irene, who sadly passed away recently, in presenting the concert this year.
Talented local singer, Georgia Dulley also performed as part of the afternoon’s entertainment, singing Peter Warlock's The First Mercy as well as joining with Counterpoint for a rendition of the Christmas classic, O Holy Night, both of which were warmly received by the audience.
As is traditional for Counterpoint's Christmas concerts, a number of well known carols were sung, with the audience being encouraged to sing along with Counterpoint, accompanied by St Mary's organist, Barbara Slade.
